When your child isn’t feeling well, prompt medical attention is essential to help them recover and get back to feeling their best. We understand how stressful it can be for parents when their child is sick, which is why we offer same-day sick visits.


Our goal is to provide timely care and begin the appropriate treatment as quickly as possible to support your child’s healing and comfort.

At iCare Pediatrics, we encourage you to contact our office to schedule a sick visit before taking your child to the emergency room or urgent care.


In many cases, we can provide same-day appointments and address your child’s needs promptly in a familiar, supportive environment—often avoiding unnecessary ER visits and reducing your wait time.

  • When Can I Schedule a Sick Visit?

    When your child is under the weather, time matters. That’s why we offer same-day sick visits to provide fast, reliable care in a trusted setting—without the long wait times of the emergency room or urgent care.


    Why Call Us First?

    We recommend calling our office before going to urgent care or the ER, unless it’s a true emergency.

  • What Happens During a Sick Child Visit?

    When your child isn’t feeling well, a sick visit at iCare Pediatrics helps us evaluate their symptoms and provide the care they need to feel better—quickly and safely.


    During a sick visit, we will:


    • Review your child’s symptoms – We’ll ask when symptoms started, how they’ve changed, and any at-home treatments you've tried.
    • Take vital signs – Including temperature, weight, and other key health indicators.
    • Perform a physical exam – Focused on your child’s symptoms (e.g., listening to the lungs, checking the ears or throat, examining a rash).
    • Order tests if needed – Such as strep tests, flu or COVID swabs, or urinalysis.
    • Provide a diagnosis and treatment plan – This may include prescriptions, home care instructions, or follow-up recommendations.
    • We also take time to answer your questions and explain what to expect during recovery.

    🩺 Common reasons for a sick visit include:


    • Fever
    • Cough or cold symptoms
    • Ear pain
    • Sore throat
    • Rash or skin issues
    • Vomiting or diarrhea
    • Pink eye
    • Minor injuries or concerns

    If your child is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or go directly to the nearest emergency room.

  • What Children's Conditions Can a Sick Visit Treat?

    Sick visits treat many types of injuries and illnesses that need same-day or next-day medical care. Children’s symptoms can change quickly, so don’t hesitate to call if your child’s symptoms get worse.


    The following are some of the most common conditions treated during sick visits:


    • Flu Upper respiratory infections
    • Earaches Headaches
    • Sore throat or strep throat
    • Congestion
    • Coughs
    • Abdominal pain
    • Asthma
    • Rashes or hives
    • Allergic reactions
    • Eye discharge or infection
    • Vomiting and/or diarrhea

    We also treats minor injuries like cuts.

  • When Does My Child Need Immediate Medical Care?

    While all the conditions often treated during a sick visit have the potential to need immediate care, some symptoms are red flags that your child needs quick medical attention.


    Call us immediately for the following symptoms:


    • Fever of 100.5ºF or higher in children younger than one-year-old
    • Fever that lasts longer than three days
    • Unusual symptoms lasting more than three days
    • Persistent pain
    • Widespread rash
    • Fever of 102ºF or higher plus other symptoms in children over one-year-old

    Other symptoms that may appear with a fever that signal a potentially serious problem include a rash, stiff neck, vomiting, and headache.


    When your child is sick, call the office as early in the day as possible so they can schedule a same-day visit if necessary.
